from the moment you wake up until you're creeping on Facebook while you're trying to go to sleep in fact every second of your day computers help with medical emergencies disaster relief and save lives on a daily basis with a degree from the Department of computer science and engineering you can leave your impact  computer scientists and computer Engineers work all over the world and all types of is an organization's Healthcare food production transportation and making it happen When I Was An undergraduate actually came from where of a physics and math background but when I saw the future and where the impact in the world was likely to be I decided to kind of switch over to work computer science and that's a decision that I've never regretted since Saturday I took my first computer science class and I came home oh my God oh my God cuz they're science method I spoke with instant gratification and find out when they're on Christmas work immediately and that's but what's even more true if that's true now and every domain now computer science part of every single different feel that there is and you get to really test and design and invent who sings in immediately get the feedback of whether or not your ideas are correct people always think of Computer Sciences as these loan people you know skip a Kohl's at night working slaving away but in fact we work in teams the majority of us the most of the projects require teams of people with lots of creativity and diverse interest to pull it together and make it happen do you want a degree that will make you employable anywhere in the country when you take it to account Computing is everywhere there is a broad range of jobs available for our students further our students are in very high man lots of calls from people and Industry saying I just heard one of your students whose fantastic or she was fantastic I need more how do I get more of your students you for all the hard skills are going to need to succeed in Industries such as learning different programming languages or tools more importantly they teach you to soft skills you need like communication team-building working with people who are not computer scientists and that is very different from play universities and even other places in this college is learning the soft skills so well Scotty I've had some really amazing relationships with the professors here I had someone who was a mentor to me and and help me through the last 4 years it's been really amazing computers Peter signs you will learn about not only how to develop code that will drive and run those systems but you learn about how to secure those those systems such that they won't available to advisers to misuse them in ways that are not in line with your interest or the interest of those folks that you're going to work with changes that we've seen the big changes over the past decade or two and kind of what you expect to see in the future are all competing related my research would help save by allowing First Responders to more quickly sort through the images of the getting from uavs so if they do find something in those pictures like a Survivor or the side of a house send people in to investigate much more quickly because it takes hours for human to look through hundreds of photos but computer can do a good first pass and just a couple of minutes in a few years is going to be want to changes in the field of computer architecture so if you're still around you're going to need to fix it all which is their apply but really cool if you go to the career bear in the fall and you walk around those boots for most 50 to 60% of those companies will be hiring computer scientist even if there are biomedical engineering or civil confirm is everybody needs computer science in every discipline can benefit from what a computer scientist brings to the table play with your alive hurry going to take advantage of all the things that we know things that are needed in textbooks yet so we won't expect you to work hard because that's how the world is made a better place I think people are as well what is what do you do with a degree in computer science and answers anything you want to the department of computer science and engineering to improve the lives of your friends family community and leave your impact on the world
