Reading Language Arts
The Reading Language Arts classes are designed to fuse language, composition, and literature to further student skills in communicating, analyzing, and interpreting ideas presented in written language. English classes at Lovejoy strive to prepare students for college, increasing fluency in research and analytical skills that will be used throughout their college career and beyond.
Four years of English (English I-IV) are required. Students choose course sections appropriate to their grade level. Students may not take two required English courses in the same semester. An exception may be considered for seniors. All core English classes require summer reading of student-purchased texts. No English course may be taken through summer school or correspondence for advancement without prior approval of the principal.
