Lovejoy ISD is pleased to announce the promotion of Coach Scott Patterson as the new Head Girls Basketball Coach at Lovejoy High School.

Coach Patterson is currently in his second year at Lovejoy High School, where he teaches Advanced Economics and serves as the Boys’ Varsity Assistant Basketball Coach. He brings 16 years of experience in education and coaching.

As a varsity assistant and associate head coach, the teams he served compiled a 253-87 overall record. His coaching experience includes contributing to McKinney High School’s 2022 UIL 6A Boys Basketball State Championship and Lovejoy High School’s 2026 UIL 5A State Semi-Finalist appearance.

Coach Patterson was also part of District 5-6A Coaching Staff of the Year honors in 2020-21 and 2021-22, as well as District 9-5A Coaching Staff of the Year recognition in 2024-25. Individually, he was named McKinney ISD Assistant Coach of the Year in 2021.

In the classroom, Coach Patterson has been recognized as a Distinguished Student Inspirational Teacher recipient in both 2022 and 2024. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences from the University of North Texas.

Coach Patterson and his wife, Kristen, who serves as a principal in McKinney ISD, have two daughters, Ruby Claire (15) and Kate (10). As a family, they enjoy traveling, attending Broadway Dallas musicals, and spending time together with their dog, Charlie.
