¡Hola, bienvenidos! Welcome to my Spanish class. My name is Laura Elías and I'm very excited to be teaching in Lovejoy HS. This will be my first-year teaching in Lovejoy, but my second-year teaching. I taught my first year at a school in north Austin, Four Points MS. I graduated from Texas State University with a BA in Spanish and a minor in Education.
I was born in Houston, TX but grew up, in Sugar Land, outside of Houston. I come from a huge Salvadoran family who mostly live in Houston. I recently married my high school sweetheart on the beautiful island of Dominican Republic. We moved to the DFW area immediately after getting married since my husband got a job offer in the area. I’m so excited to be in a new city, and so lucky I get to start a new chapter of my life in a district with an outstanding reputation.
I am a patient person and I am willing to try whatever it takes to be the teacher every student needs, and to see those light bulbs turn on in every one of their brilliant minds. I value the importance of learning a second language, and I hope to inspire and make a difference. I am fascinated by the linguistic richness that embodies the Spanish language. I hope that my passion for the language will serve to motivate my students.
