Crystal Smith
Welcome!
I am very excited to be teaching Geometry & Algebraic Reasoning this year at Lovejoy High School. The start of a new year holds the promise of new discovery and learning as well as the prospect of personal growth in all areas. I look forward to learning more about my students as we venture out the rest of this year together.
Not only am I a Geometry teacher, but I help the Lovejoy Theater build sets for their shows. Building is a hobby of mine that brings Geometry alive in the real world. I also sponsor the Leopard Bowling Team to compete against other schools in the area.
A little about me…I grew up in Colorado, where I learned to appreciate a good education and developed a great love for wolves. I graduated in Denton, Texas, from Texas Woman's University in 2010. I have a B.S. in Mathematics with a Secondary Teaching Certification. I have been teaching in Lovejoy since 2011 and I moved to the McKinney area in 2012. I have an amazing son, who attends Oklahoma State Univeristy, and 7 obnoxious (but very loveable) cats.
Besides having a passion for wolves and building, I consider myself a true "math geek" and LOVE to see how math is used outside the classroom and in our world. I also enjoy watching "The Walking Dead" & "Supernatural", reading science fiction, traveling, and playing games while spending quality time with friends and family. I avidly cheer on my favorite teams, the Dallas Cowboys & the Boston Bruins.
I have a great year planned out and I am anxious to get started on this journey with you. My contact information is provided, please feel free to contact me at anytime with questions, concerns, or comments. It is my intention that we will work together to create the best year possible. My promise is to give my best to you every day!
