Deneen Christian

The growth mindset, love of learning, positive spirit, and pursuit of excellence in the staff and students of LHS inspire me. I have worked here since 2009 because of the people.  My husband Keith retired in May 2021 after 38 years of teaching high school math.  We have a daughter who is a School Psychologist in Nashville, and our son and his wife teach at McKinney High School. Our most precious blessing is our grandson Judah, born in February 2021.

When I was a teenager I realized I had been blessed with the ability to explain a subject that is difficult for many people, so I decided to become a math teacher. I started college at Abilene Christian University and finished at Stephen F. Austin. I began my teaching career in McKinney ISD 1983-1988. Then I spent 8 years at home with our children, and the next 13 years coordinating the children's ministry at our church before coming back to teaching in public school.

In my free time I enjoy time with my grandson, visiting with friends and family, traveling, hiking, biking, gardening, reading, just being outside, watching movies and cooking.
