I grew up on a farm in the middle of Illinois and graduated from Arthur High School with a class of 46 students. I went on to college in Charleston, South Carolina, then transferred after two years to the University of West Florida in Pensacola. I graduated in 2005 with a BA in English with an emphasis in Creative Writing.
I taught middle and high school English in Pensacola for five years before moving to Texas and becoming certified in Special Education. My first school in Texas was at a Disciplinary Alternative school, in which I was the only secondary SpEd teacher, so I taught all four core subjects for grades 6-12. I moved to Newman Smith High School five years later to teach Resouce English and Math, and taught in the self-contained behavior unit for one year and served as the department co-manager. And in 2018, I began teaching at Lovejoy!
I live in Plano with my husband Chris and our son Gage, who attends Little Leopards Pre-K at Hart Elementary. Chris is a graphic artist for Traxxas in McKinney and graduated from Texas A&M Commerce.
