It is an honor to teach in such a well-known and respected district like Lovejoy. I have had the privilege of being a part of the Lovejoy family since the inaugural year we opened the high school in 2006. Originally from Lubbock, TX, I moved to the DFW area when I was a kid and graduated from Southlake Carroll in 1995. I then attended Trinity University in San Antonio, TX where I received my B.A. in History and a Master of Arts in Teaching. I spent the first six years of my teaching career at Coppell Middle School North where I taught 6th grade Social Studies, 7th grade Texas History GT and was the cheerleading coach for four years. In 2006, I joined the Lovejoy family and have since taught at the high school, Sloan Creek Middle School and at Willow Springs Middle School teaching 6th grade World Cultures, 7th grade Texas History and 8th grade US History. This year I will be teaching AP Human Geography, AP Government and PreAP Government. I am excited for this new opportunity.
I am a life-long learner and a huge history and geography fanatic. I love to travel and have been to Europe four times, Australia/New Zealand once and Mexico twice. I also love to read, dance and camp with my family. My husband and love to take road trips. We have taken road trips to Tennessee, Florida, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah, Montana, Wyoming, and this summer drove to Seattle, WA. I live in Allen with my husband Rodney and our two dogs (Cody and Daisy) and two cats (Tuxedo and Claire). I also have a 17 year old step-son, Garrett, who will be part of the first graduating senior class this year at Braswell High School in Denton where he is on the varsity cheerleading squad.
Finally, like your children, I too am a student. I recently completed a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on digital learning from Abilene Christian University. I am also currently working toward getting my Google Educator Certification. This will also be my second year to teach AP Human Geography and my first year to teach AP Government and PreAP Government, so in many ways I will be be the student as well learning how to make this a wonderful experience for my students.
