I am excited to be teaching Pre-Ap Algebra 1 this year! Freshmen year is an exciting and challenging time for most students. My Pre-AP Algebra 1 class is designed to help all students make the transition to high school smoothly in regards to their social and academic development.
This will be my 10th year in education. I have taught at Krum ISD and Coppell ISD previously. All of my teaching experience has been in mathematics, with eight of the ten years in algebra. I will integrate technology in every unit this year to enhance student learning. I try to design lessons where the students are discovering algebraic ideas and concepts through guided activities rather than a traditional lecture driven model. I want to facilitate the students’ learning by only stepping in when needed. I want my classroom to be a learning environment that fosters the growth of each student by allowing students to be given the choice of how they will learn.
I grew up in the small town of Ponder, Texas. My graduating class had 40 people! After graduating from high school, I attended the University of North Texas for one year. After my freshman year, I transferred to Lubbock Christian University where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies degree in 2006.
Shortly after earning my degree from LCU, I married my wife, Nardeen. Nardeen also works for Lovejoy as the assistant principal of Lovejoy Elementary. We have one son, Nash, who is four years old. He will attend Lovejoy Elementary next school year. He loves to play basketball and to attend my basketball games. With their support I am able to contribute a lot of time to my career.
